As a member of the Maccabee Project, you'll be responsible for providing comments on thought leader/member videos. The comments, whether standing on their own or as part of a larger conversation, will support all of us in developing our proposals. So the question is, how can you comment most effectively? The answer lies in specificity. That is, the more detailed you are, the more likely you are to both articulate your point of view and inspire other members in the process. The idea is to get to real-world solutions for which we can seek funding.
Watch all of the "opening question" or "closing question" videos. And select two pathways and watch the videos within.
Be specific. For example, "Starting at around 2:30 in his Closing Question video, Ed Victor talks about 'deserts,' within the Jewish community. This concept resonated with me. I wonder if we can develop something in between a Chabad and a JCC, where there is targeted programming for community members. What we should be thinking about is how will this be different from existing models, and how do we make this viable for people who live in areas where there is not a large Jewish community."
Or, "I listened to what Zohar Raviv had to say between minutes 2 – 4 of Pathway 2 about how we need to engage not just young Jews but young people in general, and it reminded me of what I've heard recently from Dara Horn. I want to open this up as a possibility, that we figure out how to engage young people from every background, because the focus has always been on antisemitism (for the general population), but at this point I question the effectiveness of that approach. We need to teach everyone what it means to be Jewish."
