At the Maccabee Project, respect for one another is a foundational value. We are a diverse community with many opinions. Please remember to keep your disagreements aimed at ideas—not individuals. Our intent is that proposals are developed with both insightful engagement and civility. Read on for some additional guidelines.
Nothing here commits anyone to anything. We are not voting. You can say something risky. It also means you do not need to defend yourself or convince people. Post your thoughts once and move on.
Look at the comments already there. If someone noticed the same thing you did, reply to them. Several people talking in one place is much easier to track than separate notes.
Try to extend what someone else started. Add what is missing. Point to another video that connects. You can also disagree, and you should. If two people watch the same moment and see it differently, that is useful and we want to keep both views. Please argue with the idea and not with the person.
Always include the time, like 12:45. You can also quote the speaker. This lets other people find the same moment quickly. It is the most useful thing you can do here. Use a simple keyword tag (like #pricing or #onboarding) so others can find your note later.
Do not simply write "great idea." Tell us which point, and why it matters to you. Or explain why you think it is wrong. When possible, describe the bigger idea behind what the speaker said. What are they assuming? Do you agree with that assumption?
Post an imperfect answer, or a rough hunch. Post a question you cannot answer. Post the feeling you cannot explain yet. Post a link to something outside the video that seems related. Good ideas often start this way. You do not need to be sure.
If an idea or concept seems useful, describe what we could do with it. A small test can be better than a big plan. Write it as a question if you are not certain. For example: "Could we try doing the following first?" Suggest a small test, a project, or a practical change to our work.
